Purpose of the role

To offer expert knowledge and skills in order ensure FTEL maintains a safe and complaint business. Generate and promote positive health, safety and environmental cultures at all levels within the organisation and with contractors and customers

Areas of Responsibility

To assist with the development of all our clients H&S processes and procedures to ensure they are fully compliant to National legislation, regulations and standards, OHSAS 18001 and corporate system requirements.

To work with all our clients departments by providing support and guidance on all H&S topics. E.g. task specific risk assessments and method statements,

Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards;

carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;

planning practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, for the continuing promotion of health and safety in all working practices;

attending safety committee meetings;

identifying and suggesting changes to working practices to improve safety and legislative compliance;

supporting in-house health and safety training for managers and employees

keeping records of inspections findings and producing improvement reports

keeping records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers;

maintaining a good knowledge of all current, relevant HSE legislation and codes of practice, whilst keeping up to date with new legislation and any developments.

Experience / Qualifications

NEBOSH National General Certificate or Construction Certificate

Possibly working towards NEBOSH Diploma and membership of a relevant professional body

Reasonable understanding of Environmental issues and Regulations

Good working knowledge of CDM

Experience of carrying out compliance auditing at all levels

First-rate knowledge of NRSWA, possibly qualified to Supervisor level

First Aid Certificate & ideally Fire Assessment Certification

Full clean driving licence
